Restorative

Restorative dentistry aims at restoring the function of the tooth or teeth. The restoration itself can be comprised of one of many materials form amalgam through to porcelain.

Crowns and bridges are fixed prosthetic devices, being fixed means that once implanted they do not need to be removed (like dentures), they are cemented to the existing tooth. The crown is the visible part of the tooth and usually is the part which suffers the most damage from a number of sources. The fabrication of the crown is done by using a replica of the original crown which is built by an indirect method; the result is a permanent fixture of the new crown to your tooth allowing a long lasting solution. The procedure is fairly routine and would require local anesthesia and usually takes less than 3 sittings / visits.

A bridge is usually recommended if you are missing a tooth, the gap caused by a missing tooth serves as a vacuum and hence allows the side or the upper tooth to invade on the empty space and disturb the jaw line. Bridges are again moulded from porcelain or a combination of metal and porcelain and are fixed in position. Our staff will assist you throughout the selection process and facilitate the right selection keeping in mind a number of factors.
