| All Ceramic Crowns |
A crown is a sleeve that covers the whole tooth. The primary purpose of the crown is to provide a solution to the damaged tooth but it can also serve a cosmetic purpose to re-construct the aesthetics of a natural tooth.
Crowns are multipurpose in the sense that they can be fixed on to a tooth and also on an implant. Crowns are custom designed in a laboratory.
Crowns can be all metal, porcelain fused to a metal or all ceramic. The all ceramic crowns look just like normal teeth, a crown typically lasts for around a decade but in some cases they have lasted as long as 30 years!!.
Ceramic crowns eliminate the need for a supportive metal core allowing a reduced thickness. As there is no requirement to mask the metal sub structure the porcelain is more life like. Porcelain’s reflective nature is similar to that of the natural teeth allowing for a more natural aesthetic outcome.
