Our very own dentist Jessica Pancic explains what is botox and fillers and how it is done in our latest video.

Video Script

My name is Jessica Pancic and I am a dentist. I qualified from the Dental University of Gothenburg in Sweden 1991. I have been practicing in West Sussex for the past 14 years.

As a dentist you study peoples faces all the time and I developed an interest in Cosmetic facial aesthetical treatments. In 2006 I trained in the different rejuvenation techniques in London. I am fully qualified & trained in administering Botulinum toxin type A, more commonly known as Botox, and Fillers.

What is Botox &Fillers & how does it work?
The Sk Fillers are made up of a non animal stabilized hyaluronic acid gel, very similar in it’s composition to what we have in our bodies naturally. These are an excellent choice to use for filling out already established wrinkles and folds. It does not affect your movements of the face at all. The Botulinum Toxin Type A, is made from a toxin in very controlled environment and administered in small amounts at the right place can help relax muscles which in turn eliminates or reduces the appearance of lines & wrinkles. This product prevents the muscle contraction and the patient will experience that they can’t move the part of face that has been treated. I advise the muscle relaxant treatment /Botox to be used mainly in the upper part of the face for frown lines, horizontal forehead lines and around the eye area. For the lower part of the face I recommend the use of Fillers; to treat lines/folds from nose to mouth, sk naso-labial lines, marionett lines/mouthangles, chin and lips of course.

Botox treatment lasts around 4-6 month’s and Fillers last around 9-12month’s. It is very individual how long a treatment will last for each person depending on how quickly the product get’s consumed within their body.

At your first visit, which is a free consultation, I will take your medical history and let you tell me what you wish to achieve. I will let you know my honest opinion if I think your expectations can be met and what treatment would be advisable to use to achieve best outcome. Sometimes a combination of the two techniques can be needed to perfect the result.

You will get an estimate for the treatment. You do not have to decide on the day but if you are sure you want to go ahead and book the next appointment for treatment we will ask you to pay half towards the treatment costs at booking stage.

Before the treatment, You will be asked to read through and sign a consent form. Possible side effects of the different treatments will be discussed. Most common side effects are bruising or swelling. These usually resolve within a few days.

Before the treatment commences, area will be numbed with topical anaesthetical gel for 20-30 min prior start to make your experience more comfortable. Botox treatment time is usually 5 minutes whilst the Fillers take 10-30min depending of size/location of treatment area.

Afterwards you will be advised not to manipulate the treated area, avoid saunas, facial massages and sometimes I apply icepacks.
